5 things for cosplayers to do at MegaCon Live London that AREN’T the Masquerade

We know being on stage isn’t for everyone, so, as we’ve developed our programming for MegaCon Live London, we’ve made sure there’s plenty for cosplayers who aren’t interested in competing. So, what else is there for cosplayers to look forward to at MegaCon Live?

1. Watch (or enter!) the Cosplay Showcase

First introduced at our Manchester show in 2023, the Cosplay Showcase is a non-judged opportunity to show off your costume on the Performance Square, with a backing track provided by us, and the audience cheers provided by you! For those who’d like to enter, all types of costumes are welcome, whether bought, made, modified, thrifted, or commissioned. For those who’d like to watch, the show will be at 2pm on Saturday and 1:30pm on Sunday, close to the Cosplay Village at the Performance Square. Please come along and show your support!

If you want to sign up, that can be done on the day between 11am and 1pm in the Cosplay Village.

2. Visit our brand-new cosplay exhibition

The Guild are delighted to be showcasing an exhibition of cosplay for the first time at MegaCon Live. You’ll find the display in the Cosplay Village, close to the Feature Stage. We’ve got cosplays on display from our Masquerade Judges as well as props and build books! Plus occasional Cosplay Talks, where you can hear the maker of the cosplay on display talk about their cosplay.

3. Attend a cosplay panel or talk

The Guild will be hosting an array of cosplay panels over the weekend, including focuses on bodypainting, how to arrange a photoshoot, and continuing your cosplay journey as an Adventurer. Our competition judges will be introducing you to the world of competitive cosplay, and we’ll be taking a deep dive into disability and accessibility in cosplay. View the full panel schedule here.

4. Join a cosplay meet-up

The official list of meets is available on the MegaCon Live website, so keep an eye out for updates there, and on their social media as we get closer to the convention. Meet-ups are a great way to get to know others in your fandom, and almost always have a photographer in attendance to get some great shots.

5. Shoot some content in the Selfie Zone

With twelve different selfie areas at MegaCon London covering all your content needs, there’s never been a better time to capture your good side. Find them close to the Cosplay Village, but remember, you might need to be patient!

And remember, if the worst should happen, and your costume breaks on the floor, you can always pop along to the Repair Forge in the Cosplay Village for the safety pin or hot glue that you need.

Guild of Nerds is a cosplay events team in the UK and Ireland, who run Cosplay Masquerades and Competitions at events, as well as repair tables. We also produce educational content in the form of blogs and videos.
